Howard Barry Mitchell, 89, died Sept. 26, 2015.

Born in Honea Path, he graduated from Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served for 25 years as a missionary to Brazil with the Foreign Mission Board. He also pastored Eureka Baptist Church in Anderson as well as churches in Georgia. He was a resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and a member of Laurens First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Tollison Mitchell.
