Several members of Ridge Spring Baptist Church’s WMU were honored at an awards ceremony on Oct. 29, in which Saluda Nursing Center received the “Spirit of Caring” award for the Easter Hat Parade sponsored by Ridge Spring Baptist. The late Mrs. Pauline Hendrix, a member of Ridge Spring, started the ministry 41 years ago, and her church has continued the tradition, which features musical entertainment by the youth and other members. The church provides corsages and boutonnières for the patients, and members walk them through the facility and parking lot to the tune of “Easter Parade.” Pastor John Chambers provided the Easter message this year, and at least one patient made a profession of faith.
