Connie Maxwell honors “Top 25” churches for financial support

Connie Maxwell is blessed to receive the support it does from faithful churches that see their mission join with ours to reach out to and care for children and families.

To celebrate this mission venture with our Top 25 Giving Churches, Connie Maxwell hosted the Breakfast of Champions during the annual meeting of South Carolina Baptists in November. Southside Baptist Church of Spartanburg graciously served as our host site (Those attending are pictured above.)

With the theme of Breakfast of Champions, our guest speaker was Connie Maxwell alumnus Kadarron Anderson. This young man arrived on the campus of Connie Maxwell at the age of 8 with his older brother, Demarco. Anderson shared with those gathered about his life before Connie Maxwell and how this ministry of caring shaped his life in Christ.

Kadarron went on from his achievements in high school football to receive a full college scholarship to play at Furman University, where he was All American the three years he played and twice team captain. While at Furman, he also received an honor from the South Carolina lieutenant governor, the Palmetto Patriot Award, for his community service of helping at risk children.

Following college, Anderson had the opportunity of a lifetime to play in the NFL and in Europe. He shared that it was from God’s word that he drew strength, quoting Philippians 4:13 and Psalm 27:1. All those gathered appreciated the recognition but appreci­ated more hearing from this young man on how their support helped to change his life. We encourage other churches to become more involved in reaching out to children and families.
