Willow Creek Baptist celebrates bicentennial at Oct. 11 homecoming service

Willow Creek Baptist Church in Florence celebrated its 200th birthday Oct. 11 with a homecoming service and singing in the yard. David Cromer has served as pastor for 15 years. “When I first came, we were sitting on the pews that were built in 1816,” Cromer told the Florence Morning News. “We had a singing, and one of the ladies got happy, and one of the pews collapsed.” Cromer said the church, which averages about 35 in worship attendance, has a history of strong missions support and ministry to the community and has a large Vacation Bible School every summer to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
