James Roland Watterson Sr., 83, of Lexington, died Nov. 27, 2015.

He served four churches as pastor in 35 years of active ministry: Eastside Baptist of Columbia, First Baptist of North, Red Bank Baptist in Saluda, and Still Waters Baptist in Leesville. In retirement he served several churches as interim pastor.

Watterson graduated from Wingate College, Columbia College, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with master of divinity and master of religious education degrees.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sarah Campbell Watterson, four sons and six grandchildren.
