‘Shade Tree’ offers lakefront retreat for ministry couples

Mark and Shelia Bagwell are the directors of the non-profit Shade Tree Ministries, located on Lake Keowee in Oconee County.

Ministry couples can stay without cost in the private accommodations within the Bagwells’ home for a week of rest and relaxation, spiritual renewal, and personal and marital restoration. Meals are provided, and Shelia says they “want to pamper” those who come.

Mark served as a pastor for 25 years before starting the ministry. Shelia was the director of Golden Corner Preschool for 10 years.

The couple states that Shade Tree Ministries “recognizes the need for time away from the hectic schedules of the ministry profession. We are passionate about helping ministers remain healthy and focused on their calling.”
