Pastor to Pastor: ‘Unashamed’

Thinking Christians agree that believers are targeted by terrorists, threatened by political agendas and mocked by special interest groups.

Increasingly, Christians are told to “have moments of silence rather than pray in Jesus’ name” or “go hang your commandments elsewhere.” Biblical marriage has been exchanged for a dismal imitation of God’s ideal plan. We readily notice the Christian voice in America is diminishing.

Slowly but surely, we are being politically silenced. It was in a similar social and political climate that the apostle Paul made this statement: “So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you who are in Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (Romans 1:15-16).

It is my prayer that the 2016 South Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference will encourage those of us who are pastors, evangelists and preachers to continue to be “unashamed” in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, even though the social and political climate is unfavorable to biblical Christianity.

Our preachers for the 2016 “Unashamed” conference are:

Morning Session: “Ready to Preach” (Romans 1:15)

  • Dick Lincoln (pastor of Shandon Baptist Church)
  • Gary Hollingsworth (SCBC executive director-treasurer)
  • Afternoon Session: “Releasing the Power” (Romans 1:16a)
  • Ted Traylor (pastor of Olive Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fla.)
  • Jeff LaBorg (pastor of Fairview Baptist Church,
    Corryton, Tenn.)
  • Junior Hill (evangelist from Hartsville, Ala.)

Evening Session: “Reaching the People” (Romans 1:16b)

  • Rob Wilton (pastor of Vintage Church, New Orleans, La.)
  • Don Wilton (pastor of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg)

Please pray for these wonderful preachers of truth, mark your calendars for Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, and be there at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. And thank you, pastor Eddie Coakley and the good people at Trinity, for hosting the 2016 South Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference.
