Cynthia Denise Morris, 55, former director of the Childhood Ministry Group of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, died March 27, 2016, in Ocean Springs, Miss., from complications related to diabetes.

Morris served the SCBC from 1996-2014. She was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She previously served at Anderson First Baptist Church.

Sue Harmon, operations manager for the SCBC Disaster Relief Office, previously served with Morris and said she was “passionate about the ministry to which God called her, serving preschoolers and children as a children’s minister on church staffs in Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina” in addition to her work with the SCBC.

She is survived by a brother, a nephew and a niece.
