Letter: SBC Confederate flag resolution ‘misguided’

[Regarding the Southern Baptist Convention resolution that repudiates displaying the Confederate flag], I never want to be divisive, but I really think some of our SBC leaders are a little misguided in their efforts. They are accepting a premise that just is not 100 percent true.

I would also argue that those people you are trying to appease will not be part of a harvest; instead, they will just be looking for the next concession instead of actually seeing it for the olive branch that you hope it to be.

I don’t fly or own a Confederate flag, but I certainly would never tell those who do that they are promoting racism. The cross and the Christian flag are considered bigotry to some, so should we agree to put them away as well?
