Gregory B. Boyd has been called as senior pastor of Hartsville First Baptist Church and began his duties Sept. 1.

He most recently was adult ministries pastor at Gateway Baptist Church in Irmo. Prior to that he served churches as a senior pastor and as a minister of youth and recreation.

Boyd received his doctor of ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009, his master of divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1989, and a bachelor of arts from Auburn University in 1982.

He and his wife, Patty, have three children — Megan, Joshua and Breanna — and one grandchild, Jackson.
