North Greenville University announced progress Aug. 18 in the search for its eighth president, with plans to fill the position during the spring 2017 semester, according to a news story posted at the university’s website.
In a special chapel service for faculty and staff, NGU trustee Bill Tyler, chair of the university’s presidential search committee, reported that a significant number of candidates have applied for the job opening.
Earlier this year, NGU hired national executive search firm CarterBaldwin to spearhead the search for the next president.
NGU’s search committee is comprised of trustees, faculty, staff and student representatives who will recommend a candidate to be brought before the full board of trustees for a final decision.
In addition to Tyler, the search committee includes trustees Travis Agnew, Lee Capell, David Charpia, Ron Edwards, and Laura Messer, as well as faculty representative Paul Thompson, staff representative Jody Jennings, alumni representative Richard McLawhorn, and student representative Emily Phillips.
The new president will succeed former NGU president Jimmy Epting. Randall Pannell has served as interim president since the school’s board of trustees announced Epting’s retirement in early 2015.
