Wes Brashier to join Anderson Univ. as assoc. VP, campus minister

Anderson University named Samuel Wesley “Wes” Brashier to its Christian Life Team Oct. 17.

In the newly created role of associate vice president for Christian life and campus minister, Brashier will assist vice president and senior campus pastor Bob Cline in the daily leadership of all aspects of campus ministry including Baptist Campus Ministries, Journey teams, women’s ministries, and missions and outreach.

Brashier joins Anderson from North Greenville University, where he served on the church relations staff and was directly involved in the leadership of Baptist Campus Ministries (called Baptist Student Union at NGU) as its associate director.

In addition, Brashier was founder and director of NGU’s bluegrass ensemble ministry called “BSUGrass,” and was its mandolin player. The group has released one CD and represents the school in churches and other venues across the South.

Brashier’s role will not only provide additional focus on the substance and importance of campus ministry but will also allow Cline to focus more attention on external church relations.

In making the announcement, Cline said, “I’m thrilled to have Wes join our staff. He is going to make a great contribution to our work in Christian Life. The spiritual life of our campus is a top priority for AU, and Wes has what it takes to both minister to our students and to engage them in ministry. With his leadership, I will be able to spend more time cultivating the ties that bind our South Carolina Baptist churches and other local churches. As an intentionally Christian university, those relationships are essential and must be continuously strengthened.”

Anderson’s president, Evans Whitaker, added, “Wes and his family are going to be a great blessing to our campus. He has a clear passion for Christ, a huge heart for students, and a sense of humility. He is a servant-leader who is going to make a big difference in the spiritual life of our campus. We look forward to his arrival.”

Commenting on his new assignment, Brashier said, “I am looking forward to joining the team and becoming part of the family at Anderson University. I am humbled, honored, and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord at AU.”

Brashier holds a B.S. in business administration from The Citadel and an M.A. in Christian ministry from NGU. He will complete his D.Min. studies at NGU in May 2017. Prior to serving at NGU, he was associate pastor of Berea First Baptist Church in Greenville, where he engaged in preaching and teaching ministry, worship planning, and congregational care. Prior to that, he was an owner/partner in Triple B Company, Inc., a Greenville residential development and construction business.

He is married to Caitlin Brashier, and the couple has three children, Beau, Louis, and Everly.
