‘Happy Hands’ stitchers put skills to use for outreach ministry

Members of the Happy Hands ministry at Harris Baptist Church in Greenwood, pictured above, hold some of the items they make for others, including pillowcase dresses and crocheted caps.

The pillowcase dresses go to needy young girls in different parts of the world. Ashley Lee, who is involved with a nursing ministry, will take some of the dresses with her on a mission trip to Guatemala in 2017.

The crocheted caps are for use by cancer patients. In the past, women of the Happy Hands ministry have also made aprons, pillowcases and bibs for local nursing homes.

Pictured are Joyce Smith, Marie Landers, Lynn Stennett, Lib Ledbetter, Donna Sears, Annie Ruth Trail, Debbie Cameron and Cheryl Autman.

Other members include Irene Murphy, Lanelle Grubs, Jewell Porterfield, Ladelle Boggs, Jean Anderson and Ms. Kwest.

The ministry accepts gifts of cotton cloth, yarn and pillowcases. For more information, call Marie Landers at 864-538-0045.
