Joel P. Jenkins Sr., 90, of Piedmont, died Nov. 13, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended Southeastern and Erskine seminaries and was a graduate of Furman University. He pastored Baptist churches in North and South Carolina and also served with the International Mission Board. He concluded his ministry as chaplain at Rolling Green Retirement Village and retired from Baptist work after more than 50 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joyce Culbertson Jenkins, three children, eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
