John Roosevelt Johnson, 84, of Charleston, died Dec. 21, 2016.
Born in Charleston, he retired from the Army after 20 years of service as a master sergeant. He then earned a master of divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and served in pastoral ministry for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jodell Umthun Johnson, three daughters and six grandchildren.
