North Greenville University opens Greer campus

With a snip of the ceremonial scissors, North Greenville University interim president Randall J. Pannell, T. Walter Brashier, Craig McCoy of Bon Secours/St. Francis Hospital, and City of Greer mayor Rick Danner marked the official opening of the school’s new Greer campus. The dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The newly renovated facility is located at 405 Lancaster Ave. in Greer and houses the school’s graduate school, College of Adult Professional Studies, and its faculty, staff and admissions counselors. It is also home to the new Graduate School of Health Science, which began offering a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine in January.

“This project is a testament to our mission of providing quality Christ-centered education. Having an academic space dedicated to graduate and online learning clearly demonstrates North Greenville’s dedication to their students’ education,” said Pannell.

“We are grateful for the continued vision that our administration and board has to further develop the graduate program, for Dr. T. Walter Brashier and Craig McCoy with Bon Secours/St. Francis for their generosity, the City of Greer, and our partnership with Fairview Baptist Church for the past 11 years.”

A significant portion of the day’s ceremony was dedicated to honoring Dr. T. Walter and Christine Brashier’s son, Tim Brashier, whose support allowed the naming of the Greer Campus Welcome Center. Their initial $1 million donation in 2005 made the graduate school possible. Brashier’s NGU support spans over a period of five decades.

CEO of Bon Secours/St. Francis Hospital Craig McCoy was also honored in the event. The Bon Secours/St. Francis Foundation made a significant donation to the school’s new Physician Assistant Medicine program to name the Clinical Skills Academic Center. The program launched in January with 20 students from a pool of over 600 applicants.
