Chris Holliday is new Courier business manager

Chris Holliday, 54, an accountant with more than 30 years of experience as a small business owner, has been named business manager for The Baptist Courier.

He began his duties May 1 working alongside Debbie Grooms, who will retire as business manager on June 29.

A 1984 graduate of Central Wesleyan College (now Southern Wesleyan University) with a B.A. in accounting, Holliday was owner of an Easley accounting firm, Holliday & Associates Inc., from 1985-2002, when he sold his business. He then started a company that manufactured a rope-based system for confined space entry/exit and rescue. Since 2010, he has been a partner and manager with Palmetto CPR LLC, a distributor for defibrillators in both Carolinas.

“With the recent announcement of Debbie’s retirement as business manager, we began a search,” said Courier editor Rudy Gray. “We are absolutely convinced that Chris was the person God was leading us to.

“He brings to this position a wealth of talent and experience. He is a devoted Christian and a committed family man, and his work ethic is stellar. We welcome Chris to our ministry family here at The Courier.”

Holliday, a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty since 1977, has served on the Pickens County YMCA board of directors and currently is treasurer for the board of Pickens County Christian Learning Centers Inc. He also serves as secretary-treasurer for the Southside Rural Community Water District in Liberty.

He lives in Easley with his wife, Kenda. They have two sons, one daughter and two granddaughters.

“I have felt God leading me down a path toward service for Him for the better part of the past decade,” said Holliday. “I am humbled that God has allowed me this opportunity and am blessed to serve with a group of godly people at The Courier.”
