Wahalla church installs miniature outdoor lending library

It’s not high tech and doesn’t replace the church’s much larger brick-and-mortar library, but this tiny structure is open 24/7.

The prayer of church members at College Street Baptist Church in Walhalla is that it will help share the love of Christ and spread the gospel message outside the church’s walls.

Church member and Gideon Blease Harper wanted to bring the take-a-book, return-a-book idea to the sharing of the gospel message and was inspired to build a small replica of a country church to house free literature, study Bibles, devotionals, children’s books and CDs. The tiny library is installed between the office/food pantry and church’s parking lots.

Harper constructed and installed the library. Brenda Mangan painted it and designed and lettered the “Borrow, Read, Return” sign. Jean Thomas is the church’s librarian/steward.
