The Charleston Southern University board of trustees has formed a 17-person search committee to find the institution’s next president.
The new president will succeed retiring president Jairy C. Hunter Jr. and will be the third chief executive in the school’s history.
The university announced in March that Hunter, who has served as CSU’s president for 34 years, will retire June 1, 2018. Hunter will transition to the position of president emeritus and will continue to teach in the university’s graduate school of business.
Jerry Williams, board chairman, was chosen by trustees at their Oct. 31 meeting to lead the search committee, which consists of representatives from the following groups: trustees, faculty, staff, student government association, campus ministries, athletics, external relations, advancement and alumni.
The board has contracted with CarterBaldwin Executive Search to lead the search process. All recommendations and inquiries should be forwarded directly to Bill Peterson, partner at CarterBaldwin, at email@example.com.
