Burton Eugene Williams II, 91, of Cordova, died Jan. 31, 2018.

A native of Swansea, he was a graduate of Furman University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. During his 43-year ministry, he served Southern Baptist churches in Kentucky, Ohio and South Carolina, including First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner, First Baptist Church of West Columbia, and Northgate Baptist Church in Orangeburg.

He was a member of the General Board of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and a trustee of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home. He also served as chaplain associate for Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. He was known for his daily “Dial for Truth” and his Friday sermon columns in the Orangeburg Times & Democrat newspaper.

Survivors include four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille R. Williams.
