Coit Eugene Auten, 96, of Lancaster, died Jan. 25, 2018.

He attended Wingate College and Wake Forest College and was the first male graduate of Queens College. He was also a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His South Carolina pastorates included Central Baptist Church in York, Center Grove Baptist Church and White Bluff Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include two daughters, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Broome Auten.
