Hal Ondra Black, 81, of Spartanburg, died Dec. 4, 2017.
He was a graduate of Eastern Carolina College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
After a pastoral career in Michigan and New Jersey, he retired from full-time ministry in 2002 and moved to Spartanburg, where he served as associate pastor and minister to senior adults at Roebuck Baptist Church. He also served the Spartanburg County Baptist Network as the senior adult ministry coordinator. In 2015, he became the 21st recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Spartanburg County Baptist Network. He was recognized by the S.C. Senate in 2016 for a lifetime of ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Buchanan Black, and two children.
