John Nelson J.N. “Mac” McFadden, 92, of Greer, died Jan. 31, 2018.

A native of Chester County, he was a music evangelist and minister of music for 70 years, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

He and his wife, the late Doris Evelyn McFadden, ministered together for more than seven decades. He began his music ministry in Foley, Ala., in 1943. His ministry included 19 evangelistic crusades and services at numerous churches in the Southeast, primarily in South Carolina.

Survivors include three sons, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter.
