Prayer room available to S.C. Baptists at SBC annual meeting

The GuideStone hospitality room at the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting has been reserved as a prayer room for South Carolina messengers attending this year’s convention.

The room will be available June 11 at 9:15 p.m. following Monday’s pre-convention activities. South Carolina Baptist Convention president Marshall Blalock, president-elect Bryant Sims, and executive director-treasurer Gary Hollingsworth welcome all South Carolina Baptist Convention messengers to gather for prayer on Monday night in room D174.

“We’re asking all South Carolina Baptist messengers to join us for prayer time before the Southern Baptist Convention begins on Tuesday morning,” said Blalock. “The SBC has experienced some challenging issues over the past few months, and our purpose in the prayer gathering is to seek God‘s leadership. I am hoping that fellowship of our South Carolina Baptist leaders who are in Dallas will be an encouragement as we seek God’s face in prayer.”

The SBC annual meeting will be held June 12-13 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. This year’s meeting is surrounded in controversy associated with the firing of Paige Patterson, former president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; the election of a new convention president; and the search for a new CEO of the convention and a new president for the International Mission Board.
