Mary Elizabeth “Mary Lib” May Causey, 80, of Statesville, N.C., and wife of former South Carolina pastor Jack Causey, died May 1, 2019.

A native of Meridian, Miss., she and her husband began their ministry together at First Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C., following graduation from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. They later served at First Baptist Church, Gaffney, and Pendleton Street Baptist Church, Greenville, before coming to First Baptist Church, Statesville, N.C. She worked with both children’s and adult choirs, and also mentored college students and directed wedding ceremonies. She also was active in her community, serving at Fifth Street Ministries and Hospice of Iredell County.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two children and three grandsons.
