Henry Lee Chennault, 84, of Aiken, died Jan. 17, 2023, following a period of declining heath.

He was a native of Dalhart, Texas, and was ordained into the ministry in 1956 at First Baptist Church, Altus, Okla. He was a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University, the University of Oklahoma, and Trinity Theological Seminary. He served at several churches in Oklahoma before becoming executive director of the Oklahoma Brotherhood Department. He also served as executive director of the South Carolina Brotherhood Department before accepting the call to First Baptist Church, Aiken. He later returned to the Oklahoma Baptist Convention, where he served from 1987 until his retirement in 2003. While in South Carolina, he was also a member of the board of trustees for Furman University from 1979-1981 and was the moderator for the Aiken Baptist Association in 2005 and 2013.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Reba Maxine DuBois Chennault, two sons, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
