Letter: Thanks, Mr. Editor!

The Baptist Courier

For 38 years, Don Kirkland has served on the staff of The Baptist Courier, including the past 16 years as the gifted and skilled editor. His service and leadership in Christian journalism have been characterized by professionalism, dependability, credibility, compassion and faithfulness. He has worked tirelessly with a heart and mind committed to Baptist churches, causes and people from the mountains to the ocean.

Don has been my esteemed friend throughout these years. In 1985 I was attending the annual meeting of the convention in Greenville where I was first elected a convention officer. My most enjoyable and relaxed time were those nights spent in the hospitable home of Don and Linda Kirkland.

Thanks, Don, my fellow university alumnus, for all you have done to advance the work of Christ among the Baptists of our state. In the years ahead, may you and Linda enjoy reflecting upon your extraordinary lives spent in Christian service.
