Twenty-six young ladies, ages 7 through 12, and 19 adults gathered for the second annual Girls in Action Tea Party Jan. 7 at the Pee Dee Baptist Association office in Dillon.

Cindy Orr, WMU Girls in Action consultant for the PDBA, organized the event with seven women assisting as hostesses: Nancy Zaky of Thomas Memorial; Terri Holliday of Dillon First; Rebecca Elvington (PDBA ministry assistant) of Lake View First; Lucille Carabo of Brownsville; Susie Lee of East Dillon; Betty Collins (PDBA WMU director) of Sardis; and Latreta Kennerly of Thomas Memorial.
Guest speaker Evelyn Blount, WMU director for the South Carolina Baptist Convention, gave each girl a blank sheet of paper and asked her to cut it into a circle large enough to encompass three or four people.
After Blount revealed how to accomplish the task, everyone cut the circles as Blount talked about encircling people with the love of Jesus Christ
Blount brought her message home by saying, “‘Doing missions’ is sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others outside the church.” The girls were given a Cooperative Program activity book and a bag of favors to take home.
