I have been a minister of music since 1978, and 20 of these past 28 years have been served as a South Carolina Baptist.
Jim Gill has been a leader, mentor, example and friend to me, and I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jim as our South Carolina Baptist music director.
As a member of the South Carolina Baptist Singing Churchmen, I know that I speak for the ministers of music in this state when I say that Jim Gill has been a valuable treasure and tremendous asset to those of us who serve local churches. Whether we needed professional assistance or just encouragement, Jim was always willing to help.
I will forever be grateful for the opportunities I had to minister with Jim in Romania, Taiwan, and India with the Singing Churchmen. I admire him for his expertise in music, but I love him for his heart for the Lord and his friendship. Thank you, Jim, for all of your hard work and dedication, for the great memories in ministry, for all the laughter, and for being a part of my life and ministry in the kingdom of God.
