Carolina Baptist Association recently held its Bible Drill. Macedonia Baptist Church, Jefferson, recently honored Jerry Middleton for 40 years of service as treasurer. He served from 1965-2005.

 

First Baptist Church, Clifton, celebrated its 125th anniversary March 26. Three former pastors and two former choir directors were among the nearly 170 attendees. Former pastor Lewis Vehaun and current pastor Michael Bradley delivered messages. During the celebration, a South Carolina historical marker was unveiled, and pictures and church documents were viewed. Pictured are anniversary committee members Marty Chapman, Ann Blanton, and chairperson Dale Pillsburg.

 

Mackenzie Webster, an 8-year-old third grader from Elko Baptist Church, was the flag design contest winner for Camp Hi-Hi-Pen. He received a $100 savings bond for his effort. Owned and operated by Barnwell-Bamberg Baptist Association, the camp is located near Rivers Bridge State Park in Bamberg County.

 

Davis Memorial Baptist Church, Spartanburg, recently dedicated a new church sign. Participating were Melvin Plumley, Wilbur Hall, Jimmy Bridges, Gerald Bailey, Jim Hooper and pastor Charles Hall.

 

Evergreen Baptist Church, Effingham, held a youth revival with the theme, “A Call to Die,” March 24-26, led by a team from Charleston Southern University. The Sunday morning service was conducted by Evergreen youth Lee Lee, Brittany Gulledge, and Christopher Owens. CSU students Daniel Hutchinson and Rebecca Fawver gave testimonies, and “Famous One” praise band and “The Choice” musical drama team performed.

 

ReGenea Sligh, 9, a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church, Newberry, was recognized recently for reading through the Bible in one year. She joins the many other adult graduates of the church’s M.A.R.Y. project (Meditate – Arm – Read – Yearn for God’s word) which encourages participants to read through their Bibles each year. Pastor Todd Kirkland and his wife Cathy, who teaches ReGenea in Sunday school, presented the certificate.

 

Florence Baptist Church, Pelion, held a dedication service for a new walkway connecting the main building and family life center. It was donated to the church by Eunice Medhurst, pictured with some of her family, members of the building committee and pastor Charles Leonhardt.

 

Caroline Chapman, 92, and Adrian Flowers, 81, were recently named Valentine King and Queen of Antioch Baptist Church, Hartsville.
