NGU Stadium Crusade Aug. 13

In August, football stadiums are usually reserved for early season pigskin action. However, on Aug. 13-16, the Melvin and Dollie Younts Football Stadium at North Greenville University will host the 2006 NGU Stadium Crusade.

Services will be held at 6:45 nightly and will feature LordSong as worship leaders. On Sunday evening, Aug. 13, a mass community choir will open the service.

Rick Ousley will be the guest evangelist on Sunday and Monday nights. A native of Alabama, Ousley was born in Montgomery and raised in Calera. He graduated from Samford University in 1975. Ousley served as the senior pastor of The Church at Brook Hills for 15 years. During this time, the church grew from 37 to more than 4,000 in worship.

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, Fred Luter Jr. will conclude the crusade.

Luter currently serves as the senior pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist church in New Orleans. The first African-American to be elected to the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist Convention, Luter is also a trustee of LifeWay Christian Resources and a sought-after speaker.

Under Luter’s leadership, Franklin Avenue has become a well-known and influential feature on New Orleans’ spiritual landscape. When he became pastor of the church in 1986, membership was down to 65. Since then, FABC’s rolls have grown to more than 7,000 members.
