Christian young people in your state are invited to take part in a missions project with Chinese students who are taking English. Each year we receive about 2,000 letters from Chinese students addressed “to an American friend,” and we try to place them with Christian students in grades 7-12 to be answered. This year we also expect to receive letters from students in Russia and Africa.
The letters will come during December and early January. Requests for letters to be answered must be received by Jan. 15. However, groups or individuals should send their requests as soon as they know they want to participate.
Requests for letters should include the name and mailing address of the group leader who will receive the letters, along with his/her telephone number and e-mail address if available; the number of letters needed from students in grades 7-9 and from students in grades 10-12; the name of the church and/or group that is participating, and a promise that all letters will be answered. If an American teacher would like to correspond with a Chinese teacher, ask for a teacher letter.
Direct all requests to: Dr. John T. Carter, Fellowship of Baptist Educators, Samford University, Box 292305, Birmingham, Ala. 35229; phone (205) 822-4106; e-mail j-fcarter@juno.com.
