Fred K. Norris Jr., a founding trustee of the Baptist College of Charleston (which later became Charleston Southern University), died May 11, 2013.
Norris served numerous terms on the boards of trustees and endowed a scholarship. Norris Hall, which housed the university’s first library holdings, was dedicated in May 1968.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann, five children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
William F. “Bill” Poore, 68, of Lancaster, died June 5, 2013.
Born Nov. 14, 1944, in Charleston, he was a pastor in both North and South Carolina. He was interim pastor for Flat Creek Baptist Church of Kershaw at his time of death.
Poore received great joy helping young pastors starting out in the ministry and was known to have a unique sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy A. Poore, a son and three granddaughters.
