Campers on Mission of South Carolina will hold an open meeting Jan. 6 to discuss ministry opportunities for 2007.
Campers on Mission from South Carolina take their calling seriously, sharing Christ as they go – not only on mission projects, but also during vacation and leisure time. From left, Steve Grant, president of South Carolina Campers on Mission, George Cook, Fred Seacrist and Ken Hall were among the 60 campers at the group’s fall rally enjoying cooking “biscuits on a stick” before their Sunday morning worship service at Calhoun Falls State Park. The group’s “Winter Gathering” will be held at the South Carolina Baptist Convention building in Columbia and will be open to anyone interested in becoming involved with the group. The meeting will be a covered dish meal from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The winter gathering will feature Todd Wood, NAMB missionary in Myrtle Beach, and Larry Leming, NAMB missionary in Beaufort and Hilton Head Island. They will share ways “COMers” can be involved in ministries along South Carolina’s coast.
The two missionaries will also lead training in creative ministries like balloon sculpting and face painting. Such tools are effective for drawing crowds and for sharing the gospel, said Tim Rice, missions mobilization strategist with the state convention. “With the many fairs and festivals taking place in South Carolina, opportunities are everywhere,” he said.
