CP giving 4.2 percent ahead of last year

As of Dec. 31, year-to-date contributions through the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program are 4.24 percent ahead of the same time frame at the end of 2005.

The year-to-date total of $47,352,166 for Cooperative Program missions is $1,927,076 ahead of the $45,425,089 received at the same point in the 2005-2006 Oct. 1-Sept. 30 fiscal year. For the month, receipts of $16,222,275 were 10.94 percent, or $1,599,936, above the $14,622,339 received in December 2005.

Designated giving of $11,806,075 for the same year-to-date period is 11.49 percent, or $1,216,747, above gifts of $10,589,328 received at this point last year. The $5,158,997 in designated gifts received last month is $1,488,427 above the $3,670,570 received in December 2005, an increase of 40.55 percent.

For the Cooperative Program allocation budget, the year-to-date total of $47,352,166 is 96.66 percent of the $48,987,105 budgeted to support Southern Baptist ministries globally and across North America.

During the Southern Baptist Convention’s last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, Cooperative Program gifts topped the $200-million mark for the first time, with the 2005-2006 fiscal year’s total of $200,601,536 marking a 2.37 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.
