Recently, Rick Warren entertained in his church Sen. Barack Obama, a widely known supporter of abortion rights, in an effort to defeat the HIV/AIDS crisis in this world. How can you stand with one who, while on one hand, outwardly supports the killing of unborn children, but on the other has great concern for those who have acquired a dreadful disease that, for a large part, is acquired by promiscuous sex?
It appears that Mr. Warren is attempting to unite all for his “peace plan” under the auspices of the Christian faith. Just go to his website and see his plan. Granted, he has impacted the lives of many people with his “Purpose-Driven” books and has established a tremendous following, even to the point where he provides the sermons for his pastor followers. The purpose of his “peace plan” seems to be for him to increase, not Jesus. Just look at all the recent publicity he has received this Christmas on Fox News and other networks.
In Matthew 10:34, Jesus says, “Do not think I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword” (NKJV). Also, please notice the number of references in Rick Warren’s writings and messages to verses in his preferred translation, The Message, and many passages taken completely out of context. Could it be as Paul wrote in the book of Second Thessalonians 2 that this is a beginning of the great apostasy?
