Martha Franks resident writes of ‘Journey into Glory’

Charles E. Hood, a retired South Carolina pastor, has recently published “Seven Day Journey into Glory,” a book in which he interprets what lies ahead for Christians after physical death.

In his new book, retired South Carolina pastor Charles E. Hood shares biblical interpretations of post-death glory for Christians.

Hood has charted a seven-phase process for the glorification of Christians after they die. Citing Romans 8, verses 15, 29 and 30, and drawing on his knowledge of other biblical passages, Hood reveals a seven-day process for glorification:

Day 1: Heaven Begins on Earth

Day 2: Present with the Lord

Day 3: A Bird’s Eye View of Heaven

Day 4: Becoming Fully Glorified

Day 5: The Day of God’s Wrath

Day 6: The Millennial Reign of Christ

Day 7: The New Heaven, Earth and Jerusalem

Born in Slidell, La., Hood graduated from Louisiana College in 1940 and Baptist Bible Institute (now New Orleans Baptist Seminary) in 1944. He served as a pastor at three Baptist churches in Louisiana before moving to South Carolina in 1946.

He pastored several churches in South Carolina, including Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, Gaffney, and he served for two years as minister of senior adults at Edwards Road Baptist Church, Greenville.

Since retiring, he has self-published two booklets: “Victory in Marriage” and “The Heavenly Host and Angels.” He was inspired to write “Seven Day Journey into Glory” by his Saturday seminars, which often included discussions of heaven. Now 87 years old, he lives at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens with his wife Bette.
