This year’s State Evangelism Conference at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Irmo, Feb. 26-27, will include not only preaching and singing, but also drama, according to South Carolina Baptist Convention evangelism director Marshall Fagg.

On Monday evening, Carlisle Driggers, retiring SCBC executive director-treasurer, will precede Woodstock, Ga., pastor Johnny Hunt, issuing a farewell challenge to convention churches to grow the kingdom of our Lord through evangelism and missions.

On Tuesday, Michael Cloer, pastor of Englewood Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mike Thompson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Eutawville, will join evangelists Bill Stafford and Herb Reavis in preaching.

During the conference, Barry McGee, a Christian dramatist and comedian from North Carolina, will present two dramatic skits including a portrayal of the Apostle John on the isle of Patmos. Also, five different evangelism workshops will be offered by convention staff.

Corey Singleton, a member of the South Carolina Baptist Convention youth ministry group, will be leading the congregational singing. Singers from churches all across the state will be participating.

“As director of evangelism, I have had the wonderful privilege of preaching in many of our churches,” said Fagg. “I have been amazed and blessed by the special music in those services. I decided to invite some of those singers to join the Reggie Saddler Family in presenting the music at this year’s conference. I promise you will not be disappointed!”

“This is a conference designed to energize pastors, staff and lay people to do the work of evangelism in their local communities, across the nation and around the world,” he continued.

“My prayer is that churches will seek to experience true revival by gathering together in their communities to intentionally proclaim the good news of Christ in word and song,” Fagg said. “I never grow weary of learning what God is using in the local church to change the lives of people.”
