Seventeen students from Charleston Southern University spent the day Feb. 6 rebuilding a home in conjunction with Charleston Baptist Association. Students installed flooring, removed debris from the yard, cut down a tree and visited another site to remove an unstable wheelchair ramp.

The Acteens from Westside Baptist Church, Greenwood, donated products for the hospice house in October as part of their monthly mission project. Forty-one members gathered for the monthly “Keenager” meeting (senior citizens) Feb. 8 in the fellowship hall of Calvary Baptist Church, Clinton. Ed Nelson and Patty Dillenger were named King and Queen Keenager 2007. The group then enjoyed a supper of five varieties of stews.

Charleston Southern University’s One Accord Gospel choir leads in worship at The Resolution ’07 event. Step and praise team competition, lively music, and prizes drew in more than 1,100 people to the Jan. 19-20 event at CSU. The weekend wrapped up with an evening of praise and worship featuring guest speaker Chris Bethel. During the weekend, 67 people accepted Christ.

Members of Women on Mission from First Baptist Church, Kingstree, were the first to use the newly donated, 22- passenger van when the group attended the Women’s Lifestyle Evangelism Conference in Columbia Jan. 27.

This was the first official call out since the completion of the church’s chainsaw unit. High Point Baptist Church in Lancaster held a musicians appreciation day on Feb. 11. The congregation presented gifts to the musicians, and Angie Hunter sang a solo in their honor entitled “Thank You.” Interim pastor Bobby Joyner brought a special message. Now retired, he is a former pastor at High Point.

Using the theme “Helping Hands” to promote the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, WMU members of Pine Ridge First Baptist Church, Hartsville, traced their hands and had the church’s Mission Kids decorate them. The hands were then displayed on a Christmas tree, with each hand representing a $10 donation. The offering goal was $500, but the “Helping Hands” project raised $818.25, including $295.44 collected from crafts made and sold by Mission Kids. With an average attendance of 32-38, it is believed that this is the largest Lottie Moon Offering the church has ever raised. And the Mission Kids group has grown from four to 12 children.
