A new CD-ROM to guide and assist churches on constructing bylaws is now available from the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
The CD-ROM contains bylaws by article and section with explanations on each. The resource was made available after churches requested help with the basic construction of what can be a complex process.
“The complications in most cases are because churches make their documents too wordy and long,” said Robert Grant, director of the church administration and building office for the SCBC.
Grant says verbose documents become difficult to read and therefore are rarely used. Grant also points out that most churches need assistance to bring their bylaws up-to-date.
Several other resources dealing with bylaws are also offered by the convention.
A workshop detailing the CD-ROM and demonstrating the bylaws process is offered March 29 at the convention building in Columbia. The workshop will walk through each step a church must consider in the bylaws process.
Grant, who calls the CD resource and the workshop a good “check-up” for church bylaws, is also available for individual church consultations.
To register for the workshop or to obtain a copy of the CD-ROM, call the church administration and buildings office at (800) 723-7242. The CD-ROMs are $6.95 each.
