The award is presented to an alumnus for outstanding and unselfish service to his or her alma mater, community and humanity.

Singleton was Miss South Carolina 1996 and used that platform to speak on “The Power of Self-Esteem” for children. She later worked with the South Carolina Department of Education to distribute self-esteem materials to children throughout the state.

Singleton currently serves as the director of the South Carolina chapter of “Queen for a Day/Heroes,” a nonprofit organization developed to raise the self-esteem of young people in treatment for or in remission from cancer or other blood disorders. She will host a session of the QFAD Supergirls Conference April 14 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Greer, where she is a member.
