Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Easley, celebrated two important events May 25. Eighteen members were presented plaques in recognition of being members 50 years or longer. James Campbell received special recognition for being a member 78 years. After the morning service, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a 16,000-square-foot children/youth building, expected to be completed in December. Names were drawn from each age group to assist in the groundbreaking: Sydney Crawford represented the preschool, Bailey Fisher represented the children, and Lauren Campbell represented the youth. Other participants included pastor Dave Shorter, Hoyt Thompson, Sam Young, Sam Moore, Greg Sparkman, James Campbell (oldest member present), and Zachary Whitt (youngest member present). Jim Upton is the family minister.

 

 

The Women on Mission Nighttimers I at First Baptist Church, Lake View, encouraged the tradition of wearing flowers on Mother’s Day. Members of the WMU group, led by Gale Horne, created and sold silk flower corsages and boutonnieres – raising $1,000, which was divided between the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and a June mission trip.

 

 

A mission team from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Springfield, recently spent several days on the Gulf Coast helping with construction work through the efforts of Samaritan’s Purse. The team installed insulation and sheetrocked the ceiling and walls of a home in Biloxi, Miss. Team members pictured below are (l to r) Patsy Williams, Timmy Barr, Margaret Ann Barr, Sonny Gleaton, Marion Brown, Chip Brown and James Hallman.

 

 

Union County Sheriff Howard Wells stands amid members of various branches of the armed forces at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, Union. On May 27, pastor Carrol Caldwell conducted a recognition service honoring these men for their years of service and dedication. Wells spoke about the commitment of the men he has been privileged to work with and the difficulties they endure. He highlighted how commitment to God and family impacts success on the job.

 

 

Flat Rock Baptist Church, Anderson, conducted Vacation Bible School May 28-June 1, using the theme “Game Day Central.” There was a total enrollment of 83, with six children committing their lives to Christ. The church’s Raised Hands puppet team made their debut performance at the commencement ceremony June 1. Team members are Rana Masters, Stephanie Phillips, Sarah Latham, Thomas Nelms, Blake Clinkscales, Olivia Clinkscales, and Lauren Hunsinger. Ed Hunsinger is pastor of Flat Rock, and Debbie Alexander is puppet director.
