This is my first time, in my 29 years, writing a letter to the editor. I remember growing up having my grandmother read me portions of the Courier. I am sure she has been reading for more than 65 years.
I just wanted to thank Steve Rohrlack and everyone who made “The Big Youth Thing ’07” so amazing this year. Couldn’t thank the convention enough for inviting David Crowder Band to lead us in worship.
I had the opportunity to meet David in Nashville a few years ago at a pastor’s conference, and since then have seen his band blossom into one of the world’s leading worship bands.
We chose to come to our first BYT because I wanted our students to be led in worship by David and his amazing musicians, who are making such a difference around the world for the kingdom.
Sitting in the third row just behind Lexington Baptist, we saw one of our students go forward to accept Christ for the first time, and then the spirit was so moving that it continued on the bus trip home, where a brother and sister accepted Christ.
I know that David may look pretty weird with his wiry hair and long goatee, better known in America as a “crowder.” Despite one of the hottest days in history, our students and adults truly enjoyed their experience at BYT 07. We are already looking forward to BYT 08.
Thanks for letting me share this with your readers!
