Description
Union native Ryan Smith has been active in Christian music ministry for many years as an accompanist and piano soloist. Having grown up in Tabernacle Baptist Church, Union, Smith now lives in Columbia and performs traditional piano concerts across the region in both sacred and classical settings. He performed sacred piano works at Carnegie Hall in December 2005 under the auspices of Christian Music Presenters, a Nashville company that endorsed him as an artist based on ministry readiness, spiritual integrity, and musical excellence earlier that year. Smith has recently begun exploring multimedia presentations that correspond with his live performance. “O Worship the King” (2003) contains 12 hymns he arranged for solo piano. His Christmas Album (2004) is a colloborative effort with harpist Jill Roberts of Atlanta. Smith performed some of the solos from the Christmas album in a concert at Carnegie Hall in 2005.
