Tony Morris Yates Sr., 63, of Columbia, who served as a minister of education and youth in churches across South Carolina, died Aug. 19, 2007.
Born in Salisbury, N.C., he graduated from Mars Hill College in 1966 and from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in 1969.
Most recently he managed a Columbia Meals on Wheels site.
He was an active member of Greenlawn Baptist Church, Columbia.?His last years were spent teaching the youth of Greenlawn, assisting with missions work, caring for community?needs and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his?wife, Faye Yates, three children and four grandchildren.
