The congregation of New Pleasant Baptist Church, Gaffney, honored retiring pastor George D. Holland on Nov. 10 for his 39 years in the pastorate — 23 of which have been at New Pleasant. Holland’s brother, former staff members and men called to ministry under Holland’s leadership spoke during the 11 a.m. worship service. The church held a reception for Holland and his wife following the service. His last Sunday will be Dec. 29.
