Before we all know it, it will again be time for our annual South Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference and SCBC annual meeting in November 2015. Over the course of the next several months, leading up to the conference, your Pastors’ Conference officers want to take some time to encourage pastors and to keep them updated on important news about the conference. These columns will be informational, devotional and hopefully inspirational in nature.
Our conference this year will be on Monday, Nov. 9, in Spartanburg. We are still finalizing the details on the venue, but we know that it will be in close proximity to the convention’s annual meeting site. The Pastors’ Conference will begin with the morning session at 9:00. The afternoon session starts at 1:00, and the evening session gets underway at 7:00. There will be breaks between sessions for lunch and supper.
Our theme for the 2015 conference will come from 2 Timothy 4:2: “Preach the Word!” Each session will be highlighted by a theme, around which our guest preachers will center their messages. Pastors attending the conference will be challenged to “Preach the Word in Confronting the Culture” (morning session), “Preach the Word in Encouraging the Church” (afternoon), and “Preach the Word in Obeying the Commission” (evening).
As we get closer to the date, more details about the venue, speakers and musical guests will be shared. Until then, I ask that you begin praying now for our conference and pleading with God to move mightily in the hearts of His preachers as they “Preach the Word!”
