Two South Carolinians from Greenville were among Baptists honored at the recent Association of Baptists for Scouting meeting at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega, Ala.

Jeff Hess, a member of Buncombe Road Baptist Church in Greenville, and Leona Gulick, a member of Downtown Baptist Church, also in Greenville, received Good Shepherd awards at the organization’s biennial national conference. Southern Baptist Convention president Frank Page delivered the keynote address for the pastors’ luncheon and was awarded an honorary life membership in the association for his service to Baptists and his support of the Scouting ministry in local Baptist churches.

Goals for the association include having 5,000 Scout units chartered to Baptist churches.
