Virginia and Ed Bellebaum were presented a plaque recognizing them for 51 and 54 consecutive years of perfect attendance in the Talley Sunday School Class of Summerville Baptist Church, Screven Baptist Association.

 

 

James Wiles, center, was ordained to the ministry June 29 by Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Bowman. Wiles, a graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary, is interim pastor of Hunt’s Memorial Baptist Church, Easley. Retired pastor Bobby Etheridge, right, was head of the ordination council and preached the ordination sermon. With them is Wiles’ father James.

 

 

The youth of Mechanicsville Baptist Church went on a World Vision mission trip to West Virginia in June. While there, two youth and one adult were baptized in the Cheat River of West Virginia. A baptism service also was held at the church on June 29 for two new members, making a total of 43 new Christians being baptized in 2008. Frankie Tanner is the pastor of Mechanicsville.

 

 

Pastor Garold Thomas of First Baptist Church, Moore, presents Zachary Edwards with a plaque honoring him for the bravery and courage he had shown while his father, Barry Edwards, served in Afghanistan. Zachary’s father returned home in May.

 

 

A group from First Baptist Church, Lancaster, was the first mission team to participate in Embrace Baltimore. The 35-member team, led by Kim Roberts, started renovation on Canton Baptist Church’s missionary house, painted at Catonsville Baptist Church, repaired a deck for a blind couple in Catonsville, did marketplace ministry in Canton, and evangelism in dog parks in Canton. The youth choir led in services at both churches.

 

 

Mrs. Theo Bodiford was recognized by First Baptist Church, Blackville, for 66 years of service in the children’s department. She was presented an engraved silver tray and a scrapbook of her former and current students, and a reception was held in her honor.
