Part of the roof of North Greenville University’s Donnan Administration Building landed atop the Neves Academic Building during a July 21 storm that hit the campus.

Storms slammed the Upstate of South Carolina on Monday, July 21, leaving many without power and causing damage to two buildings at North Greenville University.

Half of the roof of the Donnan Administration Building blew off, damaging a portion of Neves Academic Building just a few yards away. Damage to the interior of Donnan was minimal due to an old flat roof of the building that was still intact underneath the current roof. However, the area that housed the school’s main computer server was damaged by water.

A quarter of the Neves Building collapsed, damaging the registrar’s area of the building.

Approximately 900 Centrifuge and M-Fuge campers were on the campus but were in worship at the time the storm hit, only minutes before they were to adjourn for Bible study in Donnan Administration Building.

“Buildings can be replaced, but lives can’t,” said NGU President Jimmy Epting. “We are very blessed that no one was injured.”

School administration projects that fall classes will begin as scheduled on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
